ERICA MOLINARI
Erica's first jewelry collection was created in 2005, after having an illustrious 18-year career as a member of the National and Olympic US Luge Team. Erica competed in the Winter Olympic Games in Calgary, Canada in 1988 and in Albertville, France in 1992. Erica retired from luge, with no idea of what her next steps in life would be.
Erica then took a jewelry class in 22k granulation, which was very intriguing to her. Not one to sit idle, she immersed herself learning all that she could, attending several classes at the 92nd Street Y. She then apprenticed under a seasoned bench jeweler for 6 years, to obtain hands-on experience.
Having no formal training in the art of metalsmithing or jewelry design, Erica has created her own distinctive style with her affinity for jewelry, which is deeply entrenched with meaning. One is drawn to Erica’s work not only for its beauty but for the meaning and symbolism behind each design. She is a mix master of past details and shapes which she combines with creative abandon. Her collections are an extensive mix of pieces, that blend gothic, medieval, and Victorian inspirations. Erica continues to rejuvenate jewelry with a modern take on history and imbues all her pieces with a newfound presence. An edgier take on the classics, it is gutsier, yet still feminine and respects the integrity of her love of the old-world charm.
Erica’s charm collection reflects positive values such as strength, courage, love, and life’s lessons, which she hopes encourages you to honor and treasure your memories! To the wearer of her charms, each individual combination necklace is their story!
We encourage the wearer to add pieces, layer, and mix it up!
Today, Erica's love for working with her hands, furthering her knowledge in all aspects of jewelry fabrication, her passion for all arts, continues to inspire her to succeed! All of Erica’s original designs from inception to completion are made in her studio, in New York City.
The Erica Molinari collection is available in-store only.
Self-taught and challenging herself every day, Erica Molinari melds beloved motifs from the past with a modern and soulful sensibility, creating pieces that embody an old world charm with a contemporary presence and character. In business since 2005, she has met and mastered the bench as well as the demands of an independent designer. Perhaps it was her first career as a National and Olympic US Luge Team member. She competed in the Winter Olympic Games in Calgary, Canada in 1988 and in Albertville, France in 1992. It took stamina and the ability to adapt, which she has applied to her career in jewelry design. She has found her distinctive point of view in her inventive mix of influences from different periods: Medieval, Renaissance, and Victorian.
Her silver and 18K gold charms are exceptional examples of how to create novel takes on a historical theme. They are double-sided with motifs and sayings in Latin or Italian, and all evoke sentiments and mottos that are utterly relatable and hit a responsive chord with symbolic messages. Erica has hit her stride in her most recent collections, in which she has learned the art of engraving and vitreous glass (hard/hot) enameling. She has rejuvenated these enchanting old-world techniques with a fresh, artistic eye, creating all of her motifs with her own hands. Her new enamel collection
